Create an Atmosphere of Peace (With FREE Song!)

Bedtime is a struggle for a lot of parents. Some babies fight sleep while others are plagued with nightmares. As adults, we also struggle to put aside the stress of the day so we can rest.

What we need is an atmosphere of peace, and the best way to create that is to fill our homes with praise and worship. That’s because God inhabits the praise of His people, and our God is a God of peace. (See Psalm 22:3, 1 Thessalonians 5:23.)

During the day, I like to play Christian music on the radio or through Pandora, but when Baby Gordon was born, I needed something more soothing for bedtime. What I found is the Hidden in My Heart collection by Scripture Lullabies, and I’ve been recommending it to friends and family ever since!

I bought the CD for Volume 1 so I could play it in Gordon’s room at bedtime. It features beautiful, cinematic music with soft vocals. The words of each song are taken straight from Scripture, so God’s Word permeates the room. Gordon seems to settle down easily and rest well with this music playing. It also helps me to let go of stress and stop worrying about the next day.

The reviews for the Hidden in My Heart collection even indicate that children who struggle with nightmares are able to sleep peacefully with the music playing. What a testament to the power of the Word of God!

Here’s an audio recording of my favorite song from Volume 1, “The Peace of God”:

I downloaded this song on my phone and played it during a stressful visit with the pediatrician. Gordon stayed calm the whole time and only cried out once while he was getting a shot. The nurse was surprised that he didn’t fuss or scream. I told her how we were combining the song and prayer to help Gordon (and us!) have peace.

I purchased my CD on Amazon, but I just discovered the website for Scripture Lullabies. If you go there, you can learn more about their projects, listen to the songs, and purchase CDs or MP3s. You can also email a FREE SONG to yourself or to a friend with no obligation—very cool!

We all want peace, especially in our homes! This week, I encourage you to be proactive. Create an atmosphere of peace by filling your home with praise music. (Tweet this.)

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful” (John 14:27 NAS).
